Empowering Your Child to Shine:

Support That Feels Like Fun, Not Therapy

Every child navigates the world differently. If your child is finding it hard to manage big emotions, connect with peers, or handle daily transitions, they don't necessarily need a clinical room—they need a supportive environment where they feel safe to grow.

At Dawnellehome, we bridge the gap between education and therapy. We provide behaviour support, capacity building, and skill development for children aged 2–10. Using ABA-informed strategies and positive reinforcement, our support workers help your child build the life skills they need for school, home, and the playground.

Our Behaviour Support and Skill Development Programs

Positive Behaviour Support (ABA-Informed)

We understand that "behaviour" is simply communication. Our approach is grounded in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) principles. We adapt these for a gentle, child-led environment with a focus on:
  • Emotional Regulation: Helping children identify feelings and use tools to stay calm.
  • Routine Building: Visual schedules and strategies to make transitions, like leaving the house or starting school, much easier.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Celebrating small wins to build lasting confidence.

A collection of handmade paper crafts including a sun, a smiling moon, and animal finger puppets, demonstrating the creative materials used for play-based skill development and storytelling.

Social Skills & School Readiness Groups

Is your child anxious about making friends? Our group sessions use music, art, and collaborative play to teach vital social mechanics naturally.
  • Turn-taking and sharing: Practising patience in a fun setting.
  • Reading social cues: Understanding body language and tone through drama and play.
  • School Readiness: Preparing for the classroom environment, listening to instructions, and group participation.

Specialised Support Work (1-on-1)

Our dedicated Support Workers provide individualised attention to help your child reach their NDIS goals. Whether it’s in our Mitcham studio or a community excursion, we focus on Capacity Building:
  • Increasing independence in daily tasks, such as toileting, eating, and dressing.
  • Community access and safety awareness.
  • Building fine and gross motor skills through instrument play and sensory activities.

We offer ABA-informed support. This means we use the successful principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (like positive reinforcement and data-driven goals) but deliver them in a natural, play-based setting rather than a clinical one. If you require a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), we can recommend local clinical partners.

Yes, if your funds are Self-Managed or Plan-Managed. We act as service providers to help you utilise your Capacity Building or Core Support budgets effectively.

This depends on your child's needs! For initial sessions, we encourage parents to settle their children in. As independence grows, many parents enjoy a break while our support workers guide the session.

Most sessions are held at our dedicated creative studio in Mitcham, VIC. We have sensory-safe zones, music rooms, and open play areas designed for comfort.
